F (r) Gravity, Torsion and Non-metricity

چکیده
For both f(R) theories of gravity with an independent symmetric connection (no torsion), usually referred to as Palatini f(R) gravity theories, and for f(R) theories of gravity with torsion but no non-metricity, called U4 theories, it has been shown that the independent connection can actually be eliminated algebraically, as long as this connection does not couple to matter. Remarkably, the outcome in both case is the same theory, which is dynamically equivalent with an ω0 = −3/2 Brans–Dicke theory. It is shown here that even for the most general case of an independent connection with both non-metricity and torsion one arrives at exactly the same theory as in the more restricted cases. This generalizes the previous results and explains why assuming that either the torsion or the the nonmetricity vanishes ultimately leads to the same theory. It also demonstrates that f(R) actions cannot support an independent connection which carries dynamical degrees of freedom, irrespectively of how general this connection is, at least as long as there is no connection-matter coupling. Poisson–Sigma Model for 2D Gravity with Non–Metricity
We present a Poisson-sigma model describing general 2D dilaton gravity with non-metricity, torsion and curvature. It involves three arbitrary functions of the dilaton field, two of which are well-known from metric compatible theories, while the third one characterizes the local strength of non-metricity. As an example we show that α corrections in 2D string theory can generate (target space) no...

We start from the pure Einstein-Hilbert action S = λ 2 R ⋆ 1 in Metric-Affine-Gravity, with the orthonormal metric g ab = η ab. We get an effective Levi-Civita Dilaton gravity theory in which the Dilaton field is related to the scaling of the gravitational coupling. When the Weyl symmetry is broken the resulting Einstein-Hilbert term is equivalent to the Levi-Civita one, using the projective in...

Locally Weyl invariant massless bosonic and fermionic spin-1/2 action in the (Y 4 , g) space-time. Abstract We search for a real bosonic and fermionic action in four dimensions which both remain invariant under local Weyl transformations in the presence of contortion and non-metricity tensor. In the presence of the non-metricity tensor the investigation is extended to (W n , g) space-time while...
متن کاملRadiation transport equations in non - Riemannian space - times
The transport equations for polarized radiation transfer in non-Riemannian, Weyl-Cartan type space-times are derived, with the effects of both torsion and non-metricity included. To obtain the basic propagation equations we use the tangent bundle approach. The equations describing the time evolution of the Stokes parameters, of the photon distribution function and of the total polarization degr...
متن کاملSecond order noncommutative corrections to gravity
It is difficult to formulate general relativity on noncommutative spaces, and there are thus different approaches in the literature. In [1] for example a deformation of Einstein’s gravity was studied using a construction based on gauging the noncommutative SO(4,1) de Sitter group and the Seiberg-Witten map with subsequent contraction to ISO(3,1). Most recently constructions of a noncommutative ...
